Mental Health Counseling Admissions
Between 12 and 16 students are admitted each year into the Mental Health Counseling program at FSU.
Timeline:
Students are admitted for the fall semester. All candidates are considered for admission as soon as their folders are complete and they are usually notified within two weeks regarding an admissions decision. The admissions acceptance rate is usually about 30% in mental health counseling.
The annual fall application deadline for M.S./Ed.S. candidates is February 1st, but applicants are reviewed beginning on December 1st each year.
Admissions Prerequisites:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, Liberal Arts, Sociology, Social Work, Home and Family Life, or related disciplines from an accredited college or university.
- Satisfactory prior academic record reflected by official transcripts of all previous college work. Candidates will be considered if they meet the minimum requirements for graduate admissions.
- Completion of the Aptitude Test of the Graduate Record Examination.
- Although not required, applicants who have completed some full-time, part-time, or volunteer experience in counseling, education, or related social service, will be given preference in the application process.
