ARTICLE VI: OFFICES
The elected officers of the FSU-ISSA shall compose the Executive Committee, and shall be:

President - Responsible for overseeing and directing the functions and interests of the FSU-ISSA. Representative to the Student Advisory Council, which can be delegated in writing to the VP of Operations/Finance.
  • Act as the representative voice of the IS student body to the program, department, college, university and any other organization.
  • Provide faculty with feedback regarding various aspects of the IS program.
  • Coordinate all efforts of the FSU-ISSA.
  • Call all organization-wide meetings.
  • Designates candidates for special elections positions.
  • Attends faculty meetings or designates a representative to attend.


  • VP of Operations/Finance - Responsible for assisting the President. In the event the President is absent, the VP of Operations/Finance will be responsible for the President's duties. Maintain FSU-ISSA organizational structure and integrity. Responsible for handling, accounting, & preparation of budget reports for all collected/existing monetary funds. Responsible for the general organizational operations (planning organizational meetings, maintenance of the FSU-ISSA Constitution, compliance with FSU policies and addressing/presenting doctoral student issues to the other student officers).
  • Host workshops, colloquiums, research presentations, and discussion groups.
  • Support and maintain publication and distribution of the semiannual program newsletter.
  • Develop and increase opportunities for collaborative research projects between alumni, faculty and students.
  • Promote and build solidarity among the IS student population including distance learning students. Actively encourage mutual assistance among the IS student body.
  • Prepare annual budgets for submission to Student Government and COGS.
  • Manage all accounts of the organization.
  • Disseminate financial information to all members at regular intervals.
  • Record, maintain and distribute ISSA meeting minutes and communications to the organizational body.
  • Collect student fees.


  • VP of Alumni Relations/Public Relations - Responsible for maintaining active/current alumni database. Liaison to the Alumni Advisory Council. Responsible for the visibility (marketing) of the ISD program and the FSU-ISSA. Managing of the mentorship programs and fostering relations with other college associations. This includes settings such as academia, Tallahassee community, and national exposure.
  • Develop and maintain an interactive social environment to build a strong, well-informed network of contacts between students, including residential and distance learning students, faculty, staff and alumni.
  • Compare and contrast the Instructional Systems curriculum with current trends so as to ensure skill alignment, utilizing the Alumni Advisory Council to assist with this effort.
  • Maintain KMS/database that includes information for and about alumni so as to help them with their professional development and to promote communication between alumni, faculty and students.
  • Utilize the Alumni Advisory Council to identify current trends/skills within the field and to revise the IS curriculum in light of those developments.
  • Increase private/endowment funding for department.
  • Develop relationships with other departments and colleges such as the Business, Information Studies, Computer Science and Psychology.
  • Establish recruiting sources to help attract outstanding students into the program.
  • Increase alumni involvement and interaction in the program's activities (both academic and social).
  • Expand the alumni network within the IS/HPT fields.


  • VP of Professional Development/Events - Responsible for maintaining current procedures for enrollment to any professional association/organization. Responsible for encouraging current students to join professional associations. Responsible for addressing any issues associated with international students, such as orientations. Also responsible for addressing/presenting master student issues to the other student officers. Responsible for coordinating all social and professional development activities of the organization.
  • Provide information to students regarding additional academic and extra-curricular experiences that they can engage in both on and off campus while furthering their development. Some examples include business courses, and collaborative research projects.

  • Improve job interview and resume writing competencies through cooperation with the Career Development Center (CDC).
  • Compare and contrast the Instructional Systems curriculum with current trends so as to ensure skill alignment, utilizing the Alumni Advisory Council to assist with this effort.
  • Design and implement initiatives aimed at strengthening the IS program such as organizing student recruitment, fundraising and social events.
  • Provide opportunities for students to engage in service activities related to the advancement of the program.


  • VP of Technology - Responsible for the maintenance of the FSU-ISSA website and associated links to other websites. Plan and arrange for all technology related requirements for the association.
  • Establish and maintain a website/knowledge management system to keep current and future students informed of program activities, projects and initiatives, and provide a forum for student discussion.
  • Maintain KMS/database that includes information for and about alumni so as to help them with their professional development and to promote communication between alumni, faculty and students.
  • Organize and arrange all technology requirements for FSU-ISSA functions, events, and meetings.
  • Advocate for student technology access and requirements.


  • VP of Distance Students Responsible for bridging communication/activity gaps between distance and face to face students with regards to organizational activities.
  • Promote and building solidarity among the IS student population including distance learning students. Actively encourage mutual assistance among the IS student body.
  • Design and implement initiatives aimed at strengthening the IS program such as organizing student recruitment, fundraising and social events.
  • Provide opportunities for student to engage in service activities related to the advancement of the program.
