Originally from: I am originally from Western Pennsylvania (and still a Steelers fan), but I have spent many years in the Northern Virginia area near Washington, D.C. My husband and I recently relocated from Vienna, VA. The DC area is a very exciting place to live, but I won’t miss the traffic!
Current or most recent work experience: I have extensive experience as a trainer. My most recent position was as a Training Specialist for the U.S. Department of Labor.
Prior education: I received my bachelors and masters degrees from Marymount University, Arlington, VA. I have a master’s degree in Human Performance Systems and a graduate certificate in Instructional Design. My mentor, Dr. Karen Medsker, was the department chair at Marymount. Dr. Medsker also received her PhD from FSU and co-authored a book with Gagne.
Degree seeking: Doctoral candidate in Instructional Systems
Professional interest areas and career goals: Based on my background as a trainer and web site developer, I have an interest in how web-based training usability issues affect learners. After completing my PhD, I hope to become a professor.
Hobbies and recreational interests: My hobbies include reading, walking, traveling and genealogy (when I have the time).
