Study Skills Workshop

 

Do you have difficulty studying for class?
Do you feel anxious about taking exams?
Do you struggle to keep your work organized?

If you've answered yes to any of these questions, you may benefit from a study skills workshop.

Topics

  • Motivating yourself to study.
  • Managing your time effectively.
  • Preparing for different types of exams.
  • Organizing your notebooks. bookbags, and study space.
  • Reducing your test-taking anxiety.
  • Using efficient notetaking strategies.
  • Selecting the main ideas from lectures and readings.
  • Learning ways to focus and concentrate.
  • Asking for help from professors and friends.
  • Finding what learning style works best for you.

The Facts

What: An 8-week Study Skills Workshop given by the FSU Adult Learning Evaluation Center (ALEC). The workshop includes group activities and individual coaching.

When: For the start date of the next workshop, please call the program manager at 850-644-3611.

Where: 214 Stone Building, College of Education, Florida State University. Click here for a map

Who: The workshop is open to all undergraduate and graduate students. The group will have fifteen to twenty members. Participants will be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Cost: $30.00 per member.
(includes all supplies and snacks)

Who are we?

Lauren Giovingo is a 2nd year doctoral student in FSU's Counseling Psychology and School Psychology program.

Amy Litz is a 2nd year graduate student in FSU's School Psychology Education Specialist Program.

Briley Proctor, Ph.D. is a faculty member of FSU's Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems, and is also the Co-Director of ALEC. Her research and training interests include psycho-educational assessment, learning disabilities, AD/HD, and academic interventions.
